Improve Your Children’s Immunity Versus Sickness

As a parent, it is heartbreaking to see your child suffering from a common cold, how much more from a deadly disease. It is very important that your children get proper nutrition and proper training on how to develop their strong immune system. You don’t need to spend too much in order to this; you will only need common sense.

Even (and especially) from infanthood, your child must begin to develop his or her resistance against certain diseases. That is why breastfeeding is important for babies up to two years of age. The nutrients your child can get from breast milk is enough to give him strength and resistance against chronic illnesses like pneumonia, diabetes, bronchitis, and meningitis.

Your children must get used to eating fruits and vegetables while they are young. It is better to feed them with this type of food rather than feed them with commercial food and junk food. Fruits and vegetables contain nutrients and vitamins that are good for your children’s eyes, skin, bones and muscles. Make sure you include at least 4 portions of fruit and vegetables to their daily meals.

Have your children wash their hands before and after they eat. Teach them the value of proper hygiene by encouraging them to brush and floss their teeth 3 times a day and take a bath at least twice a day (once in the morning and once before going to bed). Keeping them clean is their best defense against germs and bacteria.

Put your children to sleep as early as 9 in the evening. A full eight hour sleep every day will greatly improve their immune system. Children who cannot get enough sleep are often weak and poor when it comes to school performance. On the other hand, children who get enough rest at the night have alert minds and bodies.

Show your kids the benefit of exercise. If you have time, take them for a daily walk in the park. During the weekends, wake them up as early as 5 in the morning to go for a jog. Regular exercise will keep your children healthy and lower their chances of gaining excess weight that may lead to heart problems.

Last but not the least, keep them away from pollution. Keep your surroundings clean and sanitized at all times. Germs and bacteria love to lurk on dirty and stinky places so make sure you dispose of your garbage properly. Also, tobacco smoke is very dangerous to your kids respiratory system, so if you smoke, make sure you stay away from them.
